Stephanie Astrup has been a member of the YMCA for nearly 21 years. She began working out there at a young age and values the friendships that she made during her first years of involvement. “The Y has impacted my life in many ways.” It is her valued experiences that have motivated her to become a dedicated volunteer, community member and Board Member for the YMCA of Cass Clay Counties.
What Stephanie enjoys most about the YMCA is the feeling she gets when she walks in the door. She explains that it feels like home – the abundance of smiles, the people and the energy make the Y’s environment enjoyable!
Stephanie is very passionate about the Y and the difference that the organization makes on the community. Their actions make it easy and desirable for her to be an active involvement with the YMCA. “The Y is a reputable name that people want to help. I am honored to be able to feel like I have helped make it what it is – even if it’s in a small way.”
Stephanie was recently showcased alongside thirty-five other women and businesses for demonstrating exemplary talents, passions and lives. The YWCA has paid tribute to outstanding women in the community since 1973. She is part of the select group of the 2015 Women of the Year Nominees, for work she has done to shape the Fargo-Moorhead community. Stephanie was nominated by her father for all of her volunteering contributions. “My dad has always been my hero and continues to be. He has the most giving heart of anyone I know. I think my love of volunteering in our community comes from him.”
