One in six children in the U.S. don’t know where their next meal is coming from. The summer is a particularly vulnerable time for kids who rely on free or reduced-price meals during the school year. At the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties, we know that children who receive daily nutrition are set up to succeed. In 2017, we served 51,929 meals to youth in our neighborhoods between June – August. On average, we served 1,118 children per day.
We are continuing to help kids reach their full potential by participating in the 2018 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
We will be providing FREE access to healthy meals in Cass and Clay Counties to ALL children up to age 18 AT NO CHARGE when school is out for summer. All meals meet standards established by the USDA.
No registration is required! Participants are invited to join us at any of the sites below for a healthy meal! Those who choose to stay for the full time-slot allotted will also be encouraged to join in on a physical activity!

We are seeking volunteers to help with the Summer Food Program June – August! Volunteers will have the option to either help with the meal or lead a physical activity with the kids. Volunteers working with the meals will help with set up, serving and also clean up and must be on site for their shift 30 minutes prior to serving the meal. We welcome individuals and/or groups to volunteer either one time or, preferably, on a regular schedule throughout the summer. Prior to working, all volunteers must A) Fill out a volunteer form and return to Katie Anderson (contact information below); and B) Attend a 15-30 minute training with a Food Program Trainer (set up either immediately before your first shift or at a convenient time for you). Volunteers for the Summer Food Program must be 18+ years old. Interested in volunteering? Please contact Katie Anderson, Learning Center Food Program Specialist, at email@example.com or 218.359.2322.
