At the YMCA, we use Creative Curriculum® in our toddler programs, an award-winning, research-validated curriculum to guide this increasingly independent age group. They spend their day exploring materials in the block area, science center, or art station. Children go outside daily for gross motor play. In addition, toddlers hear plenty of stories and songs that foster their language development. You and your child’s Lead Teacher meet together at least twice a year to discuss your child’s development and the milestones they’ve mastered.
Your child shares each meal with their peers, where they learn to serve themselves, use manners, and make healthy food choices. All meals exceed USDA requirements, as we follow the Healthy Eating Standards put forth by the YMCA of the USA. These standards include a fruit or vegetable at every meal, water or milk as their beverage of choice, 60 minutes of physical activity per day and a limit of 15 minutes of screen time per day. Screen time is limited to educational viewing only.
Early Head Start Program
Together, Mayville State University Child Development Program and the YMCA provides Early Head Start services to eligible families at two of our locations! Early Head Start is a low income-based program that provides families with quality child care. If families are eligible, they receive child care at no cost at our West Fargo and South Learning Center locations. Early Head Start is for children ages six weeks through two years old.
Need summer child care? We are NOW ENROLLING for Summer 2018!
In YMCA Child Care, toddlers watch and absorb knowledge, skills and values from everything and everyone around them. Most importantly, children learn how to be their best selves. That makes for confident kids today, and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow!
Hours of Operation:
6:30am – 6:00pm
Toddlers: 18 – 36 months
When your child enrolls in a YMCA child care program, you will receive an enrollment packet to fill out. Along with the paperwork, you will need to provide a copy of your child’s immunization record, copy of your child’s birth certificate, and medical insurance information. Please contact an Early Learning Director to obtain an enrollment packet. To get started, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The YMCA provides scholarships to families who are in need. Visit our Financial Assistance page for more information on how to apply.
