Active Older Adults

At the YMCA you are not just a part of the facility, you become part of our community! We have many options and activities for our active older adults, including Silver Sneakers and Silver&Fit members! Our Active Older Adult Programs empower active aging and promote greater health engagement and accountability by providing members with regular senior-focused exercise classes and social opportunities. We encourage and empower members at every age and stage of life to enjoy greater physical activity, connectivity and productivity. All of the programs and events listed below are included in a YMCA membership and are targeted for ages 50+. 

Active Older Adults Exercise Program

Active Older Adults is a FREE 12-week exercise program for older adults looking to gain more knowledge in the fitness center regarding strength training, cardio conditioning, balance and flexibility in a small group setting.

Noontime Newdels

Join us for health-related discussions and a potluck-style lunch! This is a great time to get to know other members of the Y! This monthly event is FREE for members.

Pickle Ball

Members are welcome to participate in Adult Member Pickle Ball Games, which is reserved for ages 18+. Players are in charge of setting up their own equipment. There are no scheduled games, players are simply encouraged to make up teams and play! Active Older Adult Group Fitness Classes

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscle strength, improve range of movement and balance, and gain energy in order to energize your active lifestyle using low-impact movements that focus specifically on building upper-body and core strength plus cardio endurance.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing and exercise balls are used in various exercises. A chair is used for seated exercises and standing support. New to Silver Sneakers? Here’s How to Apply:

1) Contact your insurance company to see if you qualify for Silver Sneakers.

2) If you do qualify, fill out the application forms, which can be found online or at either Member Services Desk. Along with the application forms, you must also present your insurance card and a photo ID to Member Services.

3) Then take a tour at the Y! Jump into a class! And start enjoying our programs that support physical, intellectual and spiritual strength designed specifically with YOU in mind. 

 (SilverSneakers membership have access to all classes, areas and all the YMCA offers. You are not restricted to only SilverSneakers programs and classes – although they are made just for you!  The same goes for just our YMCA senior members who may not have SilverSneakers – you are welcome to all the SilverSneakers classes, events and more!)
