At the YMCA you are not just a part of the facility, you become part of our community! We have many options and activities for our active older adults, including SilverSneakers and Silver&Fit members! Our Active Older Adult Programs empower active aging and promote greater health engagement and accountability by providing members with regular senior-focused exercise classes and social opportunities. We encourage and empower members at every age and stage of life to enjoy greater physical activity, connectivity and productivity. All of the programs and events listed below are included in a YMCA membership and are targeted for ages 50+.
Active Older Adults Exercise Program
The Active Older Adults is a FREE 12-week exercise program for beginners. This is an opportunity for older adults looking to gain more knowledge in the Fitness Center regarding the machines, cardio and strength conditioning, balance and flexibility. This program takes place in a small-group setting of four individuals per session. Please register online, at the Member Services Desk, or call 701.356.1448.

Active Older Adult Group Fitness Classes
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscle strength, improve range of movement and balance, and gain energy in order to energize your active lifestyle using low-impact movements that focus specifically on building upper-body and core strength plus cardio endurance. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing and exercise balls are used in various exercises. A chair is used for seated exercises and standing support. This class can be adapted by the student depending on their fitness level and abilities.
