Why yoga at the YMCA?
YMCA yoga classes meet the needs of each student. Our unique practices are based on intuition and tradition. No matter where you are in your practice or what your current state of health is, our classes are for you. Discover the mental peace, the sense of gratitude, the opening of some formerly inflexible area in the body or mind, and the feeling of community. The YMCA offers yoga classes every day of the week between our two facilities! And the best part? These classes are included in your YMCA membership!
What are the benefits of yoga?
Yoga helps to reduces stress, increase flexibility, improve balance, promote strength, heighten cardiovascular conditioning, lower blood pressure, reduce overweight, strengthen bones, prevent injuries, lift mood, improve immune function, increase the oxygen supply to the tissues, foster psychological equanimity, and promote spiritual well-being… and that’s only a partial list. In short, yoga makes you feel better Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditation makes you healthier in mind, body, and spirit.
Yoga Class Descriptions
||An intro-level class to learn basic postures with a focus on alignment, modifications and breath work.|
|Mixed Level||An intermediate class that builds upon foundation knowledge and integrates various posture options.|
|Level II||A challenging class that integrates advanced postures, breathwork, and flow. Intermediate Vinyasa Yoga.|
|Yoga in Motion||A faster-paced flowing practice that links breath to movements and strengthens the mind-body connection.|
|Silver Sneakers Yoga||A series of seated and standing poses to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion. No previous yoga experience required!|
Yoga Foundations Workshops
Join us for a series of three classes, designed just for beginners! You’ll learn foundational poses, breath work, and relaxation in a nurturing and welcoming environment. Intro to Yoga Workshops are a great start for anyone who is just beginning their practice, or those looking to go “back-to-basics” to further deepen their yoga journey. Registration is required, but these workshops are FREE for members!
Our foundational courses aren’t just for beginners! Even experienced individuals can feel free to participate to improve form, troubleshoot problem areas, learn foundational techniques, and more!

Candlelight Yoga and Yoga in the Park events were organized by our YMCA to create unity, bring awareness and raise dollars for local causes in the Fargo/Moorhead/West Fargo community. These events make yoga community-minded, accessible and fun!
Events are free will donation (suggested minimum $5) and 100% of the proceeds go to designated charities (stay tuned for 2019 charities). Just bring a mat and group of friends (a small number of mats will be available for use).
This all-levels class is designed to help you relax, melt away tension, decrease feelings of stress and increase a sense of peacefulness and is done in the gentle glow of candle light. Classes are held monthly in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Events are free will donation for members and 100% of the proceeds go to LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA. Yoga in the Park
Yoga in the Park is an annual summer event series, co-hosted by the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties, Fargo Park District and Courts Plus. All yoga classes are held in Island Park, just outside of the Fercho YMCA in the heart of Downtown Fargo. Events are free will donation (suggested minimum $5) and 100% of the proceeds go to designated charities. Bring a mat, a water bottle, and group of friends!
