With a heavy heart we share with you that it was decided upon by the YMCA Board of Directors that Camp Cormorant’s 2020 summer camp season has been cancelled due to COVID-19. This decision was made in an effort to protect campers, staff, and camper families as well as to make sure that Camp Cormorant is positioned to serve campers for years to come.
None of us ever imagined we would see a summer without camp. Operating a safe and enriching camp takes many months of preparation under normal circumstances. However, with this many uncertainties, Camp Cormorant cannot in good faith offer the safe and enriching camp experience your child was looking forward to. Overnight camp, by its nature and design, is a social experience. When we take a step back and look at where camp memories are made most, campfires, capture the flag, swimming, dining hall songs, and cabin activities we see these times as the promotion of social proximity, not social distancing.
The YMCA will automatically provide credit to families for the 2020 summer season. Credits can be used on any available program at the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties or even next year’s camp season. Camp registration opens annually in January, so stay tuned for announcements! If you would prefer a refund, please fill out a refund form and email it back to email@example.com.
In the meantime, we have some fun options for you!
- We are still offering camp rentals on a limited basis on the weekends and on weekdays. We are exploring ways to create safe environments for families to enjoy camp this summer. For more information, please contact Dee Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org or 701.364.4130.
