Exciting News: YMCA Merger

After careful consideration and a unanimous joint board vote, we are excited to announce the intent to merge the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties with the Fergus Falls Area Family YMCA. This decision is driven by our shared commitment to creating a more resilient, connected, and vibrant YMCA community that can better serve your needs. Your membership experience and program offering will only strengthen and enhance through the coming together of our two Ys. We are grateful for your involvement at our Y and look forward to continuing to help you and your family learn, grow, and thrive. We are actively working towards this transition to ensure a seamless and positive experience for all our members.

Merger FAQ

I have heard the word “merger” used; what does it mean?

“Merging” means that we will come together and operate legally as one organization recognized by the government as one 501(c)3. There will be shared resources, staff, finances, etc.

What will be the name of the new association?

The name of our new association is in the process of being determined. We anticipate being able to announce the name in March.

What locations are now included in my membership?

The combined organization includes three full-service membership facilities located in Fargo, ND and Fergus Falls, MN.

What does this mean to my membership privileges?

As a member, we anticipate that when this merger is complete, you will be able to use locations in both Fargo and Fergus Falls. Additionally, you will be able to participate in programming at the member rate at our locations. You will receive communication when these benefits are ready to begin. Family Wellness privileges will continue for 12 visits per year per member.

Will this change my membership?

Your membership experience and program offerings will only strengthen and enhance through the coming together of our two Ys. We are grateful for your involvement at our Y and look forward to continuing to help you and your family learn, grow and thrive.

Will the cost of membership or programs increase now?

We do not anticipate a membership or program fee increase based on the coming together of our Ys. Each year the staff and board review and set membership and program rates based on the operating costs of our facilities and programs.

Will the uniqueness of my local branch be preserved?

As a Y, we take pride that our focus is on our local community. Each location will maintain its unique feel and continue to serve and strengthen the communities in which they are located.

What if I have more questions that aren’t answered here?

As we move through this process, we may not have all the answers immediately, but we remain committed to making answers available on our website as soon as we are able.
